Carlow County Council has launched Loc8code – an Emergency Access Points initiative designed to improve public safety and strengthen emergency response across the county.

Emergency Access Points are clearly identified locations that allow first responders to reach people quickly in areas where traditional addresses or navigation can be difficult. From rural landscapes and riverways to recreational spaces, these markers provide a simple, reliable reference that can be shared with ambulance, fire, or rescue services in the event of an emergency.

Female entrepreneurs and budding businesswomen from across Carlow and Kilkenny are being encouraged to register for this year’s National Women’s Enterprise Day after the lineup for the event was announced. 

Carlow County Council calls on community and voluntary groups to share their environmental achievements and ideas.

Communities across Carlow Town and County are already making a real difference to our environment – from repair cafés and clothing swaps to community gardens and local recycling initiatives. Now, Carlow County Council wants to hear about this brilliant work and help it flourish.

Calling All County Carlow Students: Sign Up for the Student Enterprise Awards 2025–2026

Students across County Carlow are being encouraged to unleash their entrepreneurial spirit by taking part in this year’s Student Enterprise Programme, facilitated by the Local Enterprise Office (LEO) in Carlow County Council.

One Night for All - Culture Night 2025 - Friday 19th September. Culture Night / Oíche Chultúir is brought to you by the Arts Council in partnership with and led by Carlow County Council Arts Service; it is a national moment, celebrating culture, creativity, and the arts.  In County Carlow on Friday September 19th 2025, doors will open across the county with special and unique events from the afternoon and late into the evening.  Culture Night seeks to actively promote the belief that rich and varied culture is alive, treasured and nurtured in people’s lives.

Creativity takes many forms — a handwoven textile, a piece of original art, a digital design, a craft steeped in heritage — and each carries within it a story. Carlow County Council's Economic Development Section, working hand in hand with the Library Service, is bringing those stories to life in a new way with the launch of Creativity Chats, a six-part podcast series presented by Alan Swan and funded by Creative Ireland.

The National Cairn Community Games will make a grand return to Carlow this summer, offering a fantastic opportunity for both local residents and visitors from across Ireland to experience the best of youth sport, creativity, and community spirit. With an estimated 15,000 to 20,000 attendees expected over two weekends, this exciting event not only celebrates young talent but also promises to give a significant boost to the local economy.

Four Carlow Farming Families have been shortlisted as candidates for the national Farming for Nature Ambassadors Network. They have been shortlisted, following collaboration between Carlow County Council, Carlow IFA, Carlow ICA, Teagasc, ACRES, NPWS, and partner organisations operating in the county, with the intention of having a Carlow representative in the National Farming for Nature Ambassador Awards in 2026.

Today, Sunday 17th August 2025 Carlow County Fire & Rescue Service attended the Tullow Agricultural Show setting up a stand and demonstrations to promote Community Fire Safety.
