
The Pan Celtic International Festival is set to return to Carlow from April 22nd to April 26th, 2025, bringing together the six Celtic nations – Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Brittany, Cornwall, and the Isle of Man – for a spectacular celebration of music, language, dance, and cultural heritage. With a dynamic programme of events, performances, and competitions, this year’s festival promises to be a highlight of the cultural calendar with the Highlights programme launched today 25th March 2025.

The festival will kick off on Tuesday, April 22nd, with a grand opening concert at the George Bernard Shaw Theatre in Visual , featuring an eclectic mix of musical acts from across the Celtic world. A special informal gathering at the grounds of Carlow College & VISUAL will set the stage for a week of celebration, offering attendees the opportunity to connect and embrace the festival’s vibrant atmosphere.
Throughout the week, visitors can enjoy a diverse programme of events, including:
- Live Music Sessions & Concerts: A fantastic line-up of Celtic musicians, including John Spillane, the Carmarthen Symphonic Wind Band, and the renowned Kilfenora Céilí Band.
- Traditional Singing & Instrumental Competitions: Featuring the finest Celtic talent in solo and group singing, piping, and drumming competitions.
- Festival Parade: A colourful procession through the streets of Carlow on Friday, April 25th, showcasing national costumes, flags, and banners from all six nations, followed by a vibrant Streetfest on Tullow Street.
- Celtic Storytelling & Cultural Events: Engage with the rich traditions of the Celtic world through storytelling sessions, open mics, and choral performances.
- Pan Celtic International Song Contest: On Thursday, April 24th, national winners from each Celtic nation will compete for the coveted Pan Celtic Festival trophy and a €1,500 grand prize.
- Festival Club Nights: A series of lively festival club nights at Seven Oaks Ballroom, each hosted by a different Celtic nation, ensuring an unforgettable cultural experience.
