Some of Carlow’s best up and coming craft and design businesses will be part of over 100 companies from across Ireland who will get a chance to meet with buyers from all over the world as part of Local Enterprise Showcase at the 2026 Showcase event in the RDS, running from the 18th - 20th January.

Minister of State at the Department of the Environment, Climate and Communications with responsibility for Circular Economy, Alan Dillon TD, joined the Southern Region Waste Planning Office in partnership with local authorities across the Southern Waste Region and IRD Duhallow to launch ‘Circular Cups for Community Events’ – a first-of-its-kind initiative in Ireland. This pioneering programme provides local not -for- profit community events, throughout the Southern Waste Region, with access to high quality reusable cups, designed to eliminate single-use waste at their events. The Southern Waste Region includes local authorities in counties Tipperary, Limerick, Clare, Cork, Waterford, Kerry, Wexford, Kilkenny and Carlow.

Carlow County Fire & Rescue Service have announced at the Tullow MD meeting December 18th, 2025 their successful application to the National Directorate for Fire & Emergency Management (NDFEM) for capital funding and investment in the future development of the Hacketstown Training & Development Centre.

The Carlow Comedy Festival 2025 concluded following four successful nights of live entertainment across Carlow town, welcoming over 500 attendees between Thursday 11 and Sunday 14 December as part of Féile Lonrach – Festival of Glow. Delivered across multiple venues, the festival combined nationally recognised comedians with emerging local talent, creating a lively and engaging programme that contributed significantly to the town’s night-time economy while raising funds for the Pan Celtic International Festival 202

Carlow County Council, in association with Scats Bouncing Castles, is delighted to announce the arrival of Bounceland, a free, indoor family entertainment event taking place at The Exchange, Potato Market, Carlow, on Sunday 21 December and Monday 22 December 2025. The event forms a key part of Féile Lonrach, Carlow’s festive programme of seasonal events and activities.

A Commission Order has been made by An Comisiún Pleanala confirming the Compulsory Purchase Order with Modifications for the above mentioned case.  A copy of the order is available on-line.

Young readers and writers from across County Carlow were celebrated at a special awards ceremony for the Right to Read competition, held in the Woodford Dolmen Hotel on the evening of Tuesday 9th December.

Phase one of a revolutionary €8million regional innovation and enterprise hub was launched last night in Carlow called Catalyst HQ. The Catalyst HQ project will provide a comprehensive, integrated support environment for manufacturing, export-focused enterprises and technology-driven businesses.

A Renault HGV combined Hi-AB & Prime Mover, fuelled by HVO which is replacing two ageing vehicles, a 1993 Heavy Diesel Prime Mover HGV and a 1997 Heavy Diesel Hi-Ab Flatbed HGV. This new combined vehicle will be used to carry and transport the south-eastern regional Major Emergency Management Pod serving Counties Carlow, Kilkenny, Waterford and Wexford.
