Rubbish Film Festival Awards Celebrate Young Environmental Storytellers at VISUAL Carlow

The County Carlow Rubbish Film Festival Awards were held on the morning of Tuesday, 4 February at VISUAL Carlow, celebrating the creativity, commitment and environmental leadership of Transition Year students from across the county. Nine schools took part, with 12 TY students from each school producing a series of concise inspirational, high-quality short films.

Humanitarian Assistance Scheme

The Humanitarian Assistance Scheme provides short term immediate financial support to people whose homes are damaged by flooding or other severe weather events and who are not able to meet costs for essential needs, household items and, in some instances, structural repair. It is administered by the Community Welfare Service.

Carlow Businesses Meet Thousands Of Buyers At Local Enterprise Showcase

Businesses from Carlow had the opportunity to meet buyers from all over the world this week as part of the Local Enterprise Showcase at Showcase 2026 at the RDS in Dublin.  There were over 100 Local Enterprise Office supported businesses from across the country present at the event with two in attendance Carlow.

Emergency Road Closures due to Flood Waters - Storm Chandra

Carlow County Council has attended a meeting with the National Directorate for Fire & Emergency Management, Met Eireann and other key stakeholders stood up with the National Emergency Coordination Group this afternoon to coordinate response to Storm Chandra.  There is still a current Met Eireann Yellow Weather Warning for wind & rain for Co Carlow until 23:00 hrs this evening 27th January 2026 with further unsettled wet and windy weather forecasted for the rest of the week falling on already saturated land.
