On Monday 12th January Carlow County Council was delighted to host a celebration event in honour of the outstanding achievement of Carlow’s 2025 Community Games All-Ireland Champions with their families, coaches, volunteers and members of Carlow Community Games Committee.
Cllr. Ken Murnane, Cathaoirleach of Carlow County Council, commended all in attendance for their commitment to building on the wonderful ethos of Community Games being about participation, building friendships, creating lifelong memories and providing a unique experience that nurtures both sporting talent and all who take part in the events. He stated ‘It is a huge honour to celebrate and present to you Certificates of Achievement recognising your dedication, talent and success, congratulations to you all. We are all immensely proud of you, it is a privilege for Carlow County Council to celebrate your achievements here in the Council Chamber together with your families, coaches, volunteers and the wider Carlow Community Games family. I wish you every success in your future endeavours.’
Cairn Community Games offers a mix of team & individual events, ensuring that every participant can develop life skills, build confidence while having lots of fun.
Cllr. Paul Doogue, Mayor of the Municipal District of Carlow and Deputy President of the National Community Games highlighted that Carlow successfully hosted a number of major events for the 2025 Cairn Community Games, which included the National Athletics & Outdoor Finals at SETU and the National Arts Finals (Visual Art, Singing etc) at St Patricks College and Visual, Carlow bringing thousands to the County for sporting and cultural showcases. It is fantastic that Carlow is a primary host again for the 2026 Cairn Community Games National Finals. The county successfully secured the multi year deal to remain the official home for several major national community games events until the end of 2028.
