Carlow Businesses Gain Valuable Insights at Top Drawer London Trade Visit

Carlow County Council’s Local Enterprise Office (LEO) and 8 local SMEs attended ‘Top Drawer London’, which took place at the iconic Olympia London on January 13th and 14th, 2025. This exciting opportunity brought together eight innovative businesses from Carlow’s lifestyle, craft, home, and gift sectors. The group was accompanied by representatives from South East Technological University (SETU) and Kilkenny Local Enterprise Office. The group experienced first-hand the latest trends and innovations in one of Europe’s leading trade shows.

County Carlow came alive with festive spirit this holiday season as the #ShopLocalShopCarlow campaign delighted residents and visitors alike with its exciting competitions with two competitions. With over 1,937 entries pouring in, the campaign showcased the community’s enthusiasm for supporting local businesses.

Some of Carlow’s best up and coming craft and design businesses will be part of over 100 companies from across Ireland who will get a chance to meet with buyers from all over the world as part of Local Enterprise Showcase at the 2025 Showcase event in the RDS, running from the 19th – 21st January.

Carlow Embraces Innovation and Heritage Through Craftwork4All

Carlow is taking a bold step in celebrating its rich cultural heritage and fostering innovation by participating in the European-wide Craftwork4All initiative funded under Creative Europe.  This ambitious programme, led by MateraHub in Italy, champions inclusion and creativity through the crafts sector, combining traditional practices with modern technologies to empower communities, enhance collaboration, and preserve heritage. The project kicked off on 12th & 13th December with Carlow representatives attending the kick off meeting in Matera in Italy.

As the council offices are closed from Tuesday 24th December 2024 until Monday 30th December 2024 there will be no one available to assess homeless presentations in that time.

Student Enterprise Christmas Fair 2024: A Festive Showcase of Young Entrepreneurs in Carlow

The Exchange in Carlow was alive with festive cheer and entrepreneurial spirit as the Student Enterprise Christmas Fair took place on the 12th and 13th of December 2024. This annual event, part of the Local Enterprise Office's Student Enterprise Programme (SEP), brought together secondary schools from across the county, including Coláiste Eoin, Presentation College Carlow, St. Leo's College, Tyndall College, Tullow Community School, Presentation De La Salle, and Coláiste Aindriú Bagenalstown.
