Carlow County Council were delighted to host a Voter Registration event to coincide with the Student Development Day on 26th February 2026 in SETU, Carlow. At the event Carlow County Council members of staff from the Franchise Team were available to assist people to update details on checktheregister.ie or register for the first time. The emphasis of the Register of Electors campaign is that the People of Carlow are being encouraged to verify their eligibility to vote, check the register and learn more about their voting rights. This event is the first of a number of Register of Elector events for 2026 that the Franchise Team, Carlow County Council will facilitate. Future events will take place across the County, details will be uploaded on the Carlow County Council website www.carlow.ie
Leas Cathaoirleach of Carlow County Council, Cllr. Daniel Pender, thanked the staff of SETU for the opportunity to be part of the Student Development Day and acknowledged the work of the student peer mentor volunteers. He reminded all to ensure to be on the Electoral Register, even those who have voted before, to check the register and ensure their records are up to date and accurate on checktheregister.ie. Don’t wait it takes only 2 minutes to check that you are registered to vote at checktheregister.ie
The Mayor of the Municipal District of Carlow, Cllr. Paul Doogue, stated the Register of Electors campaign is one further step in the work to safeguard our electoral processes. Your vote matters, every vote is important, and he encouraged everyone to confirm or update their details on checktheregister.ie.
