Carlow County Council in partnership with Carlow Arts Festival and Carlow County Council, is thrilled to announce a new showcase for local talent: the Carlow Makers Market.
Set to take place on Saturday, 30 May 2026, this pop-up craft and art event will transform Lower Tullow Street into a vibrant hub of creativity, design, and enterprise. The market coincides with the festival’s busiest day, ensuring maximum visibility for the region's finest makers.
The Carlow Makers Market aims to bridge the gap between artistic creation and commercial opportunity. The market is seeking everything from intricate ceramics and textiles to contemporary jewellery, art, print, and woodwork it is envisaged that the event will highlight the incredible depth of skill within the local and regional creative sector.
Ken Murnane, Cathaoirleach of Carlow County Council, expressed his enthusiasm for the initiative:
"This market is a fantastic addition to our festival lineup. By bringing our local and regional artists and designers onto Lower Tullow Street, we aren't just creating a shopping experience; we’re fostering a lively meeting place for conversation and community. For local and regional artisans, the market offers a turnkey opportunity to showcase their brand to a massive festival audience. Carlow County Council is providing comprehensive support, including site management and equipment, to ensure the focus remains on the craft and art.

Applications are now open to craft makers, artists, and designers working across all disciplines, including illustration, woodwork, and textiles. We are specifically seeking high-quality, locally produced work.
