Public Consultation Event to Take Place at Carlow Library on Wednesday 15th July
Carlow County Council is inviting members of the public to help shape the future of one of Carlow town's most prominent public artworks through a community consultation process for a new mural at College Street.
The existing mural, located opposite the Cathedral's main entrance and forecourt, will be decommissioned and replaced with a new community-led artwork that celebrates Carlow's heritage, identity and aspirations while reflecting the unique significance of this important civic space ensuring that the final artwork is informed by local stories, experiences and perspectives.
Members of the community are invited to attend a consultation event where residents, community groups and stakeholders will have an opportunity to contribute ideas, themes and stories that could inspire the new mural and meet with local artists Beibhinn & Donough O’Brien who have been commissioned to complete the project.
Speaking about the project, Ken Murnane, Mayor, Carlow County Council said
"This mural presents an exciting opportunity to create a lasting piece of public art that truly belongs to the people of Carlow. We want to hear from those who live, work and spend time in the town about the stories, memories and values that define this community”.
