Carlow County Council is proud to announce the launch of Carlow BEO!, an extensive series of cultural activities and live performances set to animate towns and villages across the county from April through November 2026.

Designed to celebrate the vibrancy of the local creative sector, Carlow BEO!,  (meaning ‘Carlow Alive’) features a diverse program including music, dance, drama, street performance, and comedy. The initiative brings professional performances directly into the heart of communities, utilizing a variety of settings from tourism and hospitality venues , public spaces and community centres.

Supporting Local Artists and Venues, Aileen Nolan, Arts Officer for Carlow County Council, emphasized the vital role the program plays in sustaining the local arts ecosystem.

"Carlow BEO!,  is fundamentally about connection. By bringing high-quality performances into our local spaces, we are not only providing a platform for our incredible artists but also ensuring that our local venues remain vibrant hubs of activity. Supporting local performances is essential for a healthy arts community, and this series ensures that culture is accessible to everyone, right on their doorstep."

The Importance of Cultural Experiences As the county prepares for a summer of creativity, Cllr. Ken Murnane, Cathaoirleach of Carlow County Council, highlighted the social impact of the arts.

"Cultural experiences are the heartbeat of our towns and villages. They bring people together, foster a sense of pride in our shared heritage, and improve our overall well-being. Carlow BEO allows residents of all ages to engage with the arts in meaningful ways, proving that culture is not just a luxury, but a necessity for a thriving, connected community."

Arts as an Economic Driver Beyond the social and artistic benefits, the series plays a significant role in the local economy. Kieran Comerford, Head of Economic Development at the Local Enterprise Office Carlow, noted the broader impact of investing in the arts.

"The arts are a powerful catalyst for economic growth. Through Carlow BEO!, we are driving footfall into our local towns, supporting the hospitality sector, and enhancing Carlow’s reputation as a premier destination for cultural tourism. When we invest in our creative industries, we are investing in the long-term economic resilience and attractiveness of our county."
