Carlow County Council Arts Office is pleased to announce two new opportunities for artists living and working in Carlow. As part of our work to develop, co-ordinate, promote and strengthen artistic activity throughout the county we are delighted to share two new opportunities now open for applications. A key aim of this open call is to foster a supportive environment for artists at all stages of their careers, ensuring they can live, work and thrive in Carlow. This aligns directly with Pillar one of our Strategic Arts Plan, Arts for a Flourishing Carlow, “Nurturing artistic talent and practice”.
These opportunities are managed through Carlow Arts Office and supported by Carlow Local Enterprise office through the Hands Across Generations programme, co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union.
New: Mentoring and CPD programme opportunities:
- Open Call – Mentoring opportunity for Visual Artists
This call is open for Visual Artists to avail of a mentoring opportunity. The aim of this mentoring opportunity is to enable artists to be supported in developing a project, body of work, exhibition concept, publication, or area of practice. The emphasis on this opportunity is on the conceptual, curatorial, and material development of an existing project. The open call invites artists to submit an outline of a clearly defined project or area of practice that would benefit from sustained curatorial mentoring over a three-month period. The mentoring aim would be for each participant to complete the programme with a significantly strengthened application/project proposal and a clear plan for submission.
This outcome-focused model would offer practical and meaningful support to artists living and working in Carlow, while helping them position their work more confidently and strategically.

- Open call - for Artists of all genres to join a facilitator panel with CPD programme.
This call is open for potential Artists/Facilitators to join a panel for Carlow County Council. The aim of this panel is to enable artists /facilitators to make themselves available for possible opportunities that arise from time to time within Carlow County Council. The aim of this panel is to provide a fair and transparent means by which artists/facilitators can be selected to take up on opportunities which may arise within Carlow County Council.
Successful applicants will from time to time, be offered Continuing Professional Development Opportunities including expert advice in the areas of finance/tax advice for artists, etc.
Applications for this panel will be accepted on a rolling basis
