Get ready for a frightfully fun and active Halloween at The Exchange, Potato Market, as part of the Samhain Festival 2025! Active Carlow is bringing two days of high-energy Halloween Disco and Games — perfect for kids aged 4 to 12 to dance, play, and make memories in a festive, safe, and welcoming environment.

With a live DJ spinning spooky tunes, Halloween-themed games, colouring, face painting, and plenty of creepy decorations, there’s something to keep every little ghost and goblin moving and grooving. And don’t forget to come in your most dazzling, glittery, or ghoulish costume — the more creative, the better!

Deborah Foley, Active Carlow Co-ordinator with Carlow County Council, said:

"Halloween is such a fantastic opportunity to bring families and communities together in a fun, active way. At Active Carlow, we believe that being active is not just about exercise — it’s about enjoyment, connection, and making memories that inspire lifelong healthy habits. Our Halloween Disco and Games events are designed to encourage children to get moving, socialize, and celebrate the festive season in a safe and supportive environment.

“We know that physical activity is crucial for children’s development — not only for their bodies but also for their confidence, creativity, and wellbeing. By incorporating music, dance, games, and imaginative play, we’re creating a space where kids of all abilities can participate fully and feel included”.

Cllr. Daniel Pender, Leas Cathaoirleach of Carlow County Council, added:

Events like the Halloween Disco and Games, alongside the cinema screenings, highlight the Council’s commitment to offering something for all ages and interests in our community. Carlow County Council recognizes the vital role that accessible cultural and recreational activities play in promoting social cohesion, health, and wellbeing. Especially during festive seasons like Samhain, these events help us connect with our traditions while fostering a sense of belonging and fun for families. Whether it’s young children dancing with joy, teenagers sharing spooky stories, or parents enjoying a night out with the family, there truly is something for everyone.*

“I encourage everyone to come out, get active, and enjoy the rich array of experiences on offer. It’s through community events like this that we create lasting memories and strengthen the fabric of our county.”

The Halloween Disco and Games events at The Exchange are free to attend, no booking required — simply drop in and join the fun from 2pm to 5pm on both Wednesday, October 29th, and Thursday, October 30th.

For those looking for a cozy cinematic experience, The Exchange also hosts special Halloween Movie Nights featuring Disney Pixar’s Coco and the classic Hocus Pocus.
