A small business from County Carlow could be among the 31 selected to showcase their enterprise at this year’s Local Enterprise Village during the National Ploughing Championships, taking place from 16th - 18th September 2025. This prestigious event, the largest outdoor gathering in Europe, is expected to attract over 250,000 visitors across three days, providing an unparalleled platform for small businesses to gain exposure.
The Local Enterprise Village, an initiative by the Local Enterprise Offices, will feature a diverse range of small businesses from across Ireland. Applications are now open, and interested businesses are encouraged to contact Local Enterprise Office Carlow to determine their eligibility.
The chosen business will have the opportunity to exhibit for the full three days and will receive comprehensive training from the Local Enterprise Office team. This includes expert guidance in merchandising, sales, and marketing to help businesses maximise their impact at the event.
Cllr. Fergal Browne, Cathaoirleach of Carlow County Council, emphasised the significance of this opportunity, “The Local Enterprise Village provides a vital platform for businesses to connect with consumers, creating valuable relationships and driving economic growth in rural areas. The National Ploughing Championships celebrate the resilience and innovation of our rural communities and generate significant economic benefits for Carlow.” He continued saying, “With the support of the Local Enterprise Office, this is a unique opportunity for small businesses to showcase their products and services. Exhibiting is more than just selling, it’s about sharing your story, values, and building connections that can propel your business forward.”
Melissa Doyle, Business Advisor with Carlow County Council’s Local Enterprise Office, highlighted the potential for participating businesses, “The National Ploughing Championships is a landmark event in Ireland, renowned for its massive attendance and dynamic atmosphere. For small businesses, it offers a valuable opportunity to engage directly with potential customers and significantly boost brand recognition.”
All applications will be considered centrally, and successful applicants will be advised by email in mid-May 2025. This is an incredible opportunity to showcase your products and build valuable business contacts, with a long-term focus on future sales rather than just transactions made over the three days.
