
Creative Ireland Carlow and Carlow County Council Arts Service are delighted to announce a new bursary opportunity in collaboration with Belfast TradFest.
Young musicians aged 18–23 residing in/originally from Co. Carlow are invited to apply for a fully funded residential bursary, offering an unforgettable week of music, learning, and cultural exchange at Belfast TradFest Summer School taking place 28 July - 1 August 2025.
The criteria are:
- Underrepresented or Disadvantaged Groups
Priority will be given to individuals from groups that have historically had limited access to music education or cultural opportunities, including but not limited to those from minority ethnic groups, or those with disabilities. - Commitment to Traditional Music Education
Applicants who demonstrate a strong commitment to learning and contributing to traditional music, whether through past involvement in music summer schools, performance, or a desire to further their studies, will be given preference.
Speaking about this exciting new partnership with Belfast TradFest and the opportunity for young traditional musicians in Carlow, Acting Arts Officer Aileen Nolan said “We are thrilled to be collaborating with Belfast TradFest this year by providing residential bursaries for three young musicians from County Carlow. The love of traditional music for young people across the county is evergrowing and we are proud to be able to support those musicians to immerse themselves in a week of learning and culture”.
Applicants must complete the form and submit a link to a 120 second performance video.

Submissions Close: Monday 2nd of June @ 6pm
Carlow County Council will offer Three Residential Bursaries under this stream of funding.
