Councillor Fergal Browne, Cathaoirleach of Carlow County Council, officially opened the exhibition and stated, “Carlow County Council is very proud of its strong link with the University, the great benefits from this link and the growth of Carlow and SETU and in particular the link with the Architectural Technology Degree Programmes.
Carlow prides itself on its strong higher education base, SETU and Carlow College have been a substantial catalyst for economic development. Carlow’s higher educational infrastructure has played a critical role in supporting and driving economic activity in this region and demonstrates how Carlow continues to maximise the benefit and potential of its location at the centre of the South Leinster Region. SETU plays a critical role in addressing workforce skills and is an active collaborator with industry and ensures students are industry ready upon graduation with good networking prospects.”
Carlow County Council is delighted to support the Work Placement Module of the Programme. Cllr Fergal Browne, Cathaoirleach of Carlow County Council was honoured to present the Award for ‘Student of the Year’ to Chloe Deacon and Award for ‘Highly Commended’ to Sorcha Gartland, both students successfully completed Work Placement with Carlow County Council. Awards sponsored by K Design Studio, an architectural firm in Kilkenny.

Margaret Doyle Hughes, Lecturer and Programme Director, stated, “Our annual Architectural Technology Exhibition allows us to display the hard work of all our students from year one to four. SETU’s architectural technology courses provide learners with the opportunity to create inventive solutions to a range of architectural buildings, and to explore new ideas and advanced technical solutions while implementing the key principles of sustainable building design. The exhibition also demonstrates the high calibre of our students’ work and gives a taste of the undoubted success of their future careers in industry.”
The exhibition, marking the end of the academic year, recognises the talent, hard work, and dedication of students on the Bachelor of Science (Honours) Architectural Technology and the Bachelor of Science Architectural Technology courses. The event displayed the students studio work, which included hand drawn elements, scale models, virtual reality, and Revit drawings.
