Carlow County Council welcomes the announcement by the Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys, that €2,189,908 has been awarded under the Rural Regeneration and Development Fund (RRDF) Fifth Call for Category 1 Projects for the School House Community & Enterprise Centre, Rathvilly.
This project will redevelop a former school building in the centre of Rathvilly into a multi-purpose community hub. The project will revitalise the town centre, provide much needed community facilities and foster a renewed sense of community.
The Cathaoirleach of Carlow County Council, Cllr. Andrea Dalton, said “This funding is very welcome today. Rathvilly and the wider community stand to benefit greatly from the development of a multi-purpose community hub and the community led committee is to be commended for their hard work and dedication”.
Carlow County Council Chief Executive, Coilín O’Reilly, thanked Minister Humphrey for making this funding available and said “it is a very important investment in Co. Carlow. A project of its type is critical work in supporting the objectives of Our Rural Future and the Town Centre First policy.”
