Carlow Town sparkled with festive cheer as over 3,100 people braved the weather to attend Lightfest 2024, a dazzling celebration that marked the beginning of the Festive season hosted by Carlow County Council. Families gathered to enjoy a rich program of live entertainment, festive treats, and community spirit, culminating in the arrival of Santa Claus and the illumination of Carlow’s Christmas lights with beautiful fireworks display on the River.

Speaking at the event, Mayor Fintan Phelan said:

"Lightfest 2024 truly showcased the very best of Carlow and the incredible sense of community spirit that defines our town. Despite the weather, families turned out in their thousands to celebrate the magic of festive season together, and it was a joy to see so many smiling faces lighting up the evening.

I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to the Carlow Area Office team and our local supplier, Seamus Byrne Electrical, for their hard work and dedication in putting the festive lights in place. Their efforts have transformed Carlow into a winter wonderland that everyone can enjoy. As we look ahead to the holiday season, I also encourage everyone to shop local and support the wonderful businesses that make Carlow so special. Together, we can ensure this festive season is not only magical but also meaningful for our community.”
