Cruinniú na nÓg Programme

Local authorities may run events and activities for children and young people such as street theatre, workshops, screenings and readings as part of national Cruinniú na nÓg Day to encourage participation in culture and creativity.

Cruinniú na nÓg Carlow Launches for 2026!

Forward Steps Family Resource Centre was alive with fun and laughter as children from 'Little Steps' marked the official launch of Cruinniú na nÓg Carlow 2026. 'Little Steps' are currently taking part in a workshop, as part of the Cruinniú na nÓg 2026 programme, led by the wonderfully talented Little Gem Puppets, giving young participants the chance to explore puppetry, storytelling, and hands on making.

Cruinniú na nÓg, a flagship initiative of the Creative Ireland Creative Youth Plan, is Ireland’s national day of free creativity for children and young people. This year Cruinniú na nÓg returns on the 6th of June, bringing an exciting programme of 21 free events across County Carlow. From Tullow to Carlow Town to Bagenalstown, the county will come alive with opportunities for young people to imagine, experiment, and create.

This year’s programme offers a wide range of hands-on activities, including kite making, nail art, hut weaving, painting, engineering challenges, film screenings, and even a journey back to the age of dinosaurs. Every event is designed to encourage children and young people to explore and let their creative spark soar.

Cruinniú na nÓg is all about children and young people.

Every event is free. For full event listings and booking details, please check out the local Cruinniú na nÓg programme booklet or visit the website below.

Cruinniú na nÓg Carlow is organised and managed by Carlow County Council Arts Service as part of the Creative Ireland Programme.
