Arts and Older People Initiatives

Local authorities may run initiatives for older people to help them access and take part in the arts as artists, audience members, critics and arts workers.

Carlow Arts Service works in partnership with a number of local community organisations and services that supports Arts and Older People initiatives and social inclusion across the arts to promote, support and celebrate Arts and Older People in all its forms and to create access to the arts for all.

  1. Mobile Music Machine to provide care concerts across our Nursing Home settings.
  2. Borris Lace by Post and Borris Lace Exchange.

  4. Writer in Residence in an Gairdín Beo, a community garden in Carlow Town working in partnership with Carlow Library services and Carlow County Development Partnership and the Older Persons Forum in Carlow.

Carlow Arts Service also supports Carlow Arts Festival in its Cycle programme – an arts participation initiative that provides workshops engaging with communities across the county including Hacketstown, Rathvilly, Graiguecullen, Tullow and Carlow Town that also engage with older persons in the area.
