Karl Spain launches Jinglefest Comedy Shows at The Barracks as tickets go on sale for a weekend packed with laughter, live entertainment and fundraising events.
Comedy fans across Carlow and beyond are being encouraged to book early as Jinglefest Comedy Shows 2026 officially launches a packed programme of performances taking place from 3rd to 6th December 2026 as part of Jinglefest, Carlow's Christmas Festival.
The festival was officially launched by acclaimed Irish comedian Karl Spain at The Barracks, Carlow, on 12th October, unveiling an exciting line-up of stand-up comedy, improvised performances, comedy storytelling and special live events that will bring audiences to venues across the county over four days.
Running across Carlow Town, Bagenalstown and Tullow, Jinglefest Comedy Shows will showcase some of Ireland's most recognisable comedy talents alongside unique local productions, creating one of the largest comedy programmes ever presented as part of Carlow's Christmas celebrations.
Launching the festival, Mayor of Carlow, Cllr. Ken Murnane, highlighted the importance of bringing people together through cultural events.
"In December, our towns will come alive with laughter as we host an impressive line-up of comedians, storytellers, performers and entertainers across a variety of unique venues. From family-friendly events and improvised comedy to some of Ireland's best-loved comedy acts, there is truly something for everyone.
"Festivals like Jinglefest do more than entertain us. They bring people together, support our local businesses, showcase our wonderful venues and remind us of the importance of culture and community in our daily lives.
"As we begin this festival journey, I encourage everyone to support as many events as possible, explore the programme, bring your friends and family along and, most importantly, enjoy yourselves. In times when the world can feel serious and demanding, a good laugh is one of the most valuable things we can share."
Kieran Comerford, Head of Economic Development & Enterprise, Carlow County Council, said the programme demonstrates how festivals can support both community development and the local economy.
"Jinglefest Comedy Shows is an exciting addition to Carlow's Christmas calendar and reflects our continued commitment to developing vibrant cultural experiences that attract visitors, support local hospitality businesses and create memorable experiences for residents. We are particularly delighted that this programme also supports important community causes, including Carlow Women's Aid and the Pan Celtic International Festival. The combination of nationally recognised performers, unique venues and strong local partnerships makes this a very special addition to Jinglefest 2026."
The festival opens on Thursday, 3rd December, with a unique fundraising event, One Night Stand Up in Aid of Carlow Women's Aid, at The Tower, Tullow Street. Under the mentorship of Karl Spain, nine local participants will take to the stage to perform original stand-up comedy routines in support of the charity.
On Friday, 4th December, one of Ireland's most beloved comedians, Ardal O'Hanlon, will headline a special performance at VISUAL, offering audiences an opportunity to enjoy one of the country's finest comedic talents in an intimate festival setting.
The action continues on Saturday, 5th December, with a packed programme including:
