Culture Night 2026 returns to Carlow on Friday, 18 September

Culture Night 2026 will return on Friday, 18 September, inviting people across Carlow to come together for a night of free cultural discovery, creativity and connection in towns, cities, villages and rural communities nationwide.
This year, Carlow will host a wide-ranging programme of free events, with 37 events taking place across 26 venues. From live music, theatre, exhibitions to hands on visual art workshops, the local programme will offer people of all ages the chance to experience culture on their doorstep.
At the heart of Culture Night is the ethos of One Night for All. A shared night of culture that is welcoming, local and free. Whether planning a full evening of events, joining something nearby on the night, bringing family and friends along, or seeing a familiar place in a new way, people across Ireland are invited to take part and connect through culture.
Now in its 21st year, Culture Night is stewarded by the Arts Council in partnership with Local Authorities across Ireland, with support from the Department of Culture, Communications and Sport. Locally, Carlow County Council Arts Office works with artists, venues, libraries, galleries, theatres, studios, cultural organisations, community groups and organisers to help bring the programme to life across County Carlow.
Cllr. Tommy Kinsella, Cathaoirleach Carlow County Council at the lively launch of the Culture Night Carlow Programme in O’Shea’s Bar, Borris said:
“This year yet again we have seen an extraordinary commitment by communities and artists from across County Carlow working together to showcase the very best that the county has to offer, helping deliver a programme which is diverse, open, inclusive and most importantly free to all to attend.”

Culture Night Carlow 2026 programme highlights
Standout events taking place in County Carlow this year include:
- Ukulele as Gaeilge, presented by Glor Cheatharlach, brings music and celebrations to Leabhair agus Lattes, Potato Market.
- Tullow in Harmony, an outstanding evening of live music performances and more fills the beautiful Church of the Most Holy Rosary, Tullow.
- Music Generation Carlow offer an Inclusive Trad Session welcoming all to come along to Railway House, Bagenalstown and play a tune.
- Turf Raves will take over The Exchange, bringing all the energy of a trad Irish session with the raw pulse of a rave.
