Carlow County Council is proud to announce the launch of Carlow’s Eco Journey, a new eight-part podcast series that shines a spotlight on the county’s vibrant environmental movement and the inspiring individuals behind it. The series funded by Creative Ireland, will be available on major streaming platforms from Thursday, 9th October, offering listeners a chance to hear directly from local changemakers working towards a more sustainable future.
Hosted by broadcaster Alan Swan, each episode features engaging conversations with community groups, educators, activists, and volunteers who are making a real difference across County Carlow. From conservation efforts and heritage protection to inclusive green initiatives and creative climate solutions, the podcast captures the spirit of collaboration and care that defines Carlow’s approach to climate action.

The passion and dedication on display were truly inspiring, both collectively and individually. Presenting this series has been an enjoyable and uplifting experience, and it has shown just how much of a difference community spirit can make in shaping a greener future for us all.” Alan commented.
The series was previewed at a special gathering on 29th September in Moka Coffee Shop, Haymarket, in Carlow town, where podcast guests came together to hear snippets of their stories and connect with fellow contributors. The event highlighted the strong sense of community and shared purpose that underpins the project.

Speaking at the launch, the Cathaoirleach of Carlow County Council, Cllr Ken Murnane, praised the podcast as “a celebration of the incredible work happening in our communities , much of it unacknowledged and certainly underheard. The groups featured in this series represent just a fraction of the passionate individuals across Carlow who are quietly shaping a greener, stronger county for future generations.”
