Carlow County Council in partnership with O Keeffe Social Research, are currently undertaking research to promote circular economy activities in our communities.
We hope to generate an interactive map, identify best practices, acknowledge achievements, and identify how groups can access more supports.
We are asking everyone in Carlow Town and County to get involved by sharing information about any activities in your area that promotes:
- Repair, reuse or upcycling.
- Sharing or Swapping initiatives (Clothing, construction, gardening or office equipment or materials, Tool / machinery banks, Toy, or book libraries).
- Community gardening, composting or food waste reduction.
- Sustainable living or Zero waste practices. (Including refill stations, bike libraries, community fridges or food sharing).
- Environmental education or awareness events. (Workshops, film nights, community challenges).
In order to create a profile of community-based circular economy activities throughout the County, we ask you to identify your projects, complete the attached form and email same to Brendan and Ann Marie at oksocialresearch@gmail.com on or before Friday 1st August.
Whether you are hosting sewing classes, furniture repair courses, have a Mini Community Library or are teaching your community to grow their own food, we urge you to get involved and get news of your activity out to the wider community of Carlow.
Please contact Jannette O Brien jobrien@carlowcoco.ie if any further information is required.
